A 33-year-old former RCMP officer in Manitoba has been charged with sexual exploiting an underage girl.

According to Winnipeg police, the officer met a girl under the age of 18 while on duty in 2014. He then pursued an intimate relationship with her for about four months.

Winnipeg Police Service (WPS) spokesman Const. Jason Michalyshen said there is no indication the girl was involved in the sex trade but relationship between her and the officer was "clearly unacceptable and inappropriate."
