2 Mounties charged after separate investigations by Alberta RCMP

Two Alberta Mounties have been charged following separate investigations by the RCMP.

Police say in a news release that an officer from the Edson detachment is facing two counts of uttering threats, one count of assault and two counts of mischief under $5,000.

It’s alleged that Const. Ryan Deroche, who is 34, threatened a woman at her home on Sept. 14 when he was off duty.

Police say Deroche, an eight-year member of the RCMP, has been suspended with pay and is to be in court on Nov. 3.
