Man questions why pursuit continued after OPP SUV collided with family’s car before police-taxi crash

A massive police pursuit from Sarnia to London that left a woman and her young daughter fighting for their lives involved not one but two collisions with police vehicles, The Free Press has learned.

Shortly before a police vehicle pursuing a suspected getaway car from a Sarnia bank heist collided with a London taxi, critically injuring a mother and her daughter, an OPP SUV involved in the same chase and a car carrying three kids collided nearby, authorities now confirm.

The London man, 36, says he was turning left into Archie’s restaurant from the northbound lanes on Wellington Road, south of Southdale Road, at 4:45 p.m. on Sunday when his car and the provincial police SUV collided.

The collision left the family’s car with extensive damage on the driver’s side, especially the rear door, said the man, who did not want to be identified, citing the police involvement.
