Man alleges racial profiling by Montreal police, vows to 'fight back'

Picture this: you’ve just dropped your kids off at summer camp and you’re walking down a busy street with your wife when two police officers corner you.

They demand to see your identification, claiming a criminal complaint has been launched against you. When you press them for details, they backtrack and say you match the description of a suspect they’re looking for.

Your wife is scared and strangers are looking at you like you’re a petty criminal, so you hand over the identification. Eventually the police let you go.

This happened to Wayne King on July 4. It was the third time this year that King was “carded” by police for no apparent reason. Now King, who is black and sports dreadlocks, says he’ll be filing a racial profiling complaint with the police ethics commissioner.
