ENGLISH FOLLOWS

Gathering at 12:30pm - Departure at 1pm

On November 16, 17 and 18, 2019, members of the Haitian diaspora will march with their allies and friends in Europe and America: in Paris, Caracas, San Francisco, Miami, New York, Boston and Toronto.
In Montreal, we will stand with Haiti on November 17, on the eve of the commemoration of the Battle of Vertières which, in 1803, led to the creation of Ayiti, the first republic of free Afro-descendants in America. The revolt of these slaves led to a victory for humanity. The Ayitian revolution initiated a movement to abolish slavery in the world and participated in the struggles for independence in Latin America.
At this very moment, the country is in turmoil. For the past 15 months, thousands of Haitians have taken to the streets, and have even gone as far as 6 general strikes, to demand justice and the right to a dignified life. They receive bullets, tear gas and insults as their only response from a dictatorial president who was imposed on them by a colonial force called the Core Group (United States, Canada, France, etc.).
The Haitian people are fighting against a global system that is destroying the planet, humiliating peoples, exploiting humans, impoverishing lands and countries in the south. A system that generates injustice and suffering all over the world. A system that is leading us all to our downfall.
So, on November 16, 17 and 18, 2019, in Montreal and around the world, let us walk with the Haitian people for justice and human dignity!
