Woman, 28, who died in London police custody was much more than just an addict: Brother

Despite her own battle with substance abuse, Amanda Bolt worked to help others struggling with addictions and homelessness, her older brother says.

Ontario’s police watchdog identified Bolt, 28, as the woman who died in hospital Nov. 13 after being found unresponsive in a London police cell 10 days earlier.

Court records show Bolt, who had a history of run-ins with the law stretching back nearly a decade, was arrested on Nov. 2 and charged with failure to comply.

Sibling Chris Bolt acknowledged his younger sister was battling addiction “and the lifestyle that goes with it,” but said that struggle didn’t define her.
