A Toronto police officer has been charged with assault after a suspect was Tasered three times and kicked during an arrest in October.

Const. Mehrdad Mahmodian, 51, arrested the suspect after receiving reports of a break and enter near Yonge Street and St. Clair Avenue West around 12:50 a.m. on Oct. 7.

When police arrived, three suspects believed to be connected with the break-in were found in a ride-share vehicle. Police chased the suspects who fled on foot.

After a short chase, one of the suspects surrendered and was handcuffed by Mahmodian, an officer with 53 Division, police said.
