Police-involved balcony death has echoes of 1999 case, says Edmonton lawyer

The death of a 24-year-old man who fell from an apartment balcony following a confrontation with police shares similarities with a well-known case two decades ago, says an Edmonton lawyer.

The Alberta Serious Incident Response Team (ASIRT), the province’s police watchdog, is probing the death of the Edmonton man, who either jumped or fell from a fourth-floor balcony as police attended a west Edmonton apartment early May 14.
