More than 2,000 under-18s and almost 70 under-14s have been hit.

Amber Rudd’s Home Office took 11 months to release the figures and had to be threatened by the Information Commissioner’s Office before they would do so.

Last year, 519 youngsters were Tasered, up more than 50% on 2015.

At the same time, the United Nation’s committee on the rights of the child urged Britain to ban the use of electrical discharge on younger suspects.
