Suspended Cape Breton police officers won’t face charges after RCMP investigation

GLACE BAY, N.S. — Three Cape Breton Regional Police Service (CBRPS) officers who were suspended more than 15 months ago won’t be facing charges after an independent investigation was conducted by the RCMP.

Const. Greg Livingston, Sgt. Jerome Kelly and Const. Roberta Kelly were suspended under the Nova Scotia Police Act, with pay, in September 2016.

Cpl. Dal Hutchinson, media relations officer with the Halifax District RCMP, confirmed in an emailed response to the Cape Breton Post this week that RCMP commenced an investigation in September 2016, based on information involving three Cape Breton Regional Police Service officers, and that the investigation has been concluded without charge.
