Siksika man claims RCMP beat him during nighttime raid, seeks $2 million in damages

The Siksika man whose criminal charges were dropped, amid allegations he was badly beaten by Mounties during his arrest, has filed a lawsuit seeking nearly $2 million in damages.

The claim alleges Christian Duckchief was assaulted in his home at Siksika First Nation and seeks damages for both Duckchief and his spouse, Chantel Stonechild, who was present during the arrest.

The lawsuit names the Attorney General of Canada and constables Tyler Christian and Constantin Hadjievangelou as defendants.

The claim states that about 6 a.m., two officers knocked on Duckchief’s door, which was answered by an eight-year-old child.
