
An RCMP member has been charged with assault after getting into an altercation at his home while off-duty.
In a news release Wednesday, police said a member of the Strathcona RCMP detachment was off-duty and at home on Aug. 31 when he got into an altercation with a member of the public.
After a police investigation, the officer — who has been with the RCMP for 10 years — was charged on Friday.
Const. Matthew Howson, 35, has been charged with assault.
