Alberta’s police watchdog has been brought in to investigate the sudden death of a man who was in Calgary police custody.

A Calgary Police Service press release said the man died early Monday after paramedics were called to the 2400 block of Erlton Road S.W. around 6 a.m. for reports of an individual “who was believed to be experiencing a mental health crisis.”
