Toronto cop allegedly sent pic of man injured by ‘sock rounds’ to criminal he bought stolen goods from via WhatsApp

A veteran Toronto officer recently charged with criminal breach of trust is accused of snapping an on-duty photo of an injured, emotionally disturbed man — who’d been shot four times by a police “sock round” gun — then sending it to an alleged criminal on WhatsApp, police tribunal documents reveal.

Toronto police Const. Ewan MacLeod is also alleged to have been in frequent contact with the alleged criminal — not only neglecting to report thefts, but instead seeking to buy items he knew were stolen including Nespresso machines, Dutch oven cookware and Canada Goose winter coats, according to the documents.

The new details, contained in police tribunal documents that outline alleged Police Service Act misconduct, come one day after Toronto police announced MacLeod has been arrested and charged with criminal breach of trust.

The officer of 20 years, and who was assigned to Etobicoke’s 23 Division, was suspended with pay in April, after his alleged misconduct came onto the radar of Halton Regional Police Service.
