Dillon RCMP officer accused of viewing 'sensitive, private' images of woman from surveillance footage in cellblock

RCMP say a nine-year veteran constable with the Dillon detachment viewed “sensitive, private images” of a woman taken from a surveillance video recorded in the cellblock area of the Buffalo Narrows detachment.

According to a media release, two Dillon RCMP officers came across information on Oct. 13 which indicated that another on-duty officer had improperly accessed the images.

They reported it to a supervisor and Prince Albert RCMP’s General Investigation Section launched a criminal investigation, which determined that one still image from the video was copied and printed.

Cst. Wade Chitrena is charged with breach of trust and is scheduled to appear in court on Jan. 16 in Dillon. He is suspended with pay and the RCMP has ordered a Code of Conduct investigation.

The woman in the images has been informed about the incident, RCMP said in the media release.
