Pierre Coriolan's sister breaks down seeing video of police shooting him

The sister of Pierre Coriolan broke down sobbing and crying “Why? Why?” as a disturbing cellphone video of police officers fatally shooting her brother was played in an inquest room at the Montreal courthouse Wednesday.

It was the third day of the coroner’s inquest into the 2017 death of the 58-year-old mentally ill man, and his sister, Lizaline Coriolan, was sitting near the back of the inquest hall, holding a small bible. When coroner Luc Malouin asked her if she wished to remain in the room while the video was played, she nodded.

But as she watched the recording of police officers Tasering, shooting and then repeatedly hitting her brother with a baton as he lay prone on the floor yelling, the woman began to shake and sob.
