Charges dropped against Mississauga woman who was shot and Tasered by Peel police

A Mississauga woman shot and Tasered by a Peel Regional Police officer last May says all charges against her and her partner stemming from the incident have been dropped.

Chantelle Krupka and her partner Michael Headley were charged following a Mother’s Day 2020 incident during which they were both Tasered and Krupka was shot when two officers responded to a call about a domestic incident at her Mississauga home.

Following the incident, Krupka was charged with possession for the purpose of distributing and laundering proceeds of crime, while Headley was also charged with obstructing a peace officer and assaulting a police officer.

The officer who shot Krupka, Const. Valerie Briffa, was later charged by Ontario’s Special Investigations Unit (SIU) with criminal negligence causing bodily harm, assault with a weapon and careless use of a firearm, offences that each carry the possibility of jail time.
