17-year-old killed in St-Constant during police intervention

The Sûreté du Québec is investigating the police shooting of a 17-year-old boy in St-Constant Sunday.

The teen allegedly stabbed his father during an altercation in their Amaryllis St. home just after midnight. Someone in the home called 911 and when officers arrived at the scene, the boy reportedly attacked one of them with a knife. An officer opened fire on him, connecting with at least one bullet.

Police say the father of the suspect is in critical condition. The officer who shot the boy belonged to the regional Rousillon police force. As is always the case with an officer-involved shooting in Quebec, the investigation was transferred to another police force early Sunday — in this case, the SQ.
